Fantastic Pumpkin Facts

There once were so many pumpkins in New England that the city of Boston was nicknamed "Pumpinshire"

The largest pumpkin ever was 1061 pounds!  (That's as heavy as a small cow!)

Pumpkins are cucurbits, along with cucumbers, melons, gourds and squash.

Pumpkins are a good source of vitamin A and potassium.  Eat lots of pumpkin pie and bread!

Native Americans called pumpkins "isquotersquash."  Try saying that 5 times fast!
