Mom with her fresh baked apple pie!  
   

  • 9" or 10" Pie Plate
  • Apple slices to fill pie plate
  • 3/4 to 1 Cup Sugar
  • 1-2 Tablespoons Flour
  • 1/2-1 Teaspoon Cinnamon
  • 1/8 Teaspoon Salt
  • 1 Tablespoon Lemon Juice
  • 2 Tablespoons Butter

Make 2 crusts. Mix the flour, sugar, cinnamon and salt together. Set aside. Put bottom crust in pie plate. Sprinkle with 6 tablespoons of mixture on bottom crust. Slice apples thin. (McIntosh and Idared or Empire Apples) Sprinkle rest of dry mixture over the apples. Add lemon juice and butter over the apple slices. Put on upper crust. Cut holes in crust. Bake on lower shelf of oven at 425°for 25-30 minutes until crust is golden brown.

Apple Coffee Cake
Favorite weekend treat for families and friends. Be sure cake is cold before turning out. If turned out hot it will break up.
  • 5 Tablespoons Sugar

  • 2 Teaspoons Cinnamon

  • 3 Cups Flour

  • 1 Cup Sugar

  • 1 Cup Cooking Oil

  • 4 Eggs

 

  • 1/4 Cup Orange Juice

  • 2 1/2 Teaspoons Vanilla

  • 3 Teaspoons Baking Powder

  • 1 Teaspoon Salt

  • 5 Apples, peeled, cored, and sliced thin

 

 
Combine sugar and cinnamon and set aside. In a large bowl put flour, sugar, oil, eggs, orange juice, vanilla, baking powder and salt. Beat well. Grease 10" tube pan. Pour in one third of the batter, half the apples, and one third of the cinnamon and sugar alternately until all ingredients are used. Bake at 350°for 1 hour and 10 minutes. Freezes well.
