COVID-19 Safety FAQ

Hurds Family Farm is doing everything we can to keep our visitors and team members safe. These are the answers to some frequently asked question concerning our safety protocols here on the farm. Feel free to email us at information@hurdsfamilyfarm.com if you have any other questions.

Q: Do guests have to wear a mask in the orchard?

A: It depends. If you are within 12 feet of a Friendly Team Member or another visitor, you must have your mask on. If you and your family are out in the orchards with no one else around, feel free to take off your masks, but keep them on hand in case you encounter other people.

Q: How are Team Members limiting COVID-19 risks?

A: Our Friendly Team Members are required to wear masks within 12 feet of guests or other team members. They wash and sanitize their hands often and change their gloves after making any exchanges with guests. Stations are sanitized frequently. Parkers, Welcome Cashiers, and Drive Thru Farm Store attendants interact with visitors from their cars in order to limit person-to-person contact and keep safe distances. All Hurds Team Members are required to fill out a Health Screening Questionnaire before the start of their shift which includes a temperature check.

Q: Are you limiting the number of people that come?

A: Yes. We are selling a limited number of tickets for four two-hour time slots throughout the day on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays. Visitors are encouraged to arrive no more than a half hour before their ticket slot, and leave after around two hours to avoid overcrowding. On slower days like Wednesday and Thursday we will be limiting the number of visitors if needed, but do not expect to require online reservations.

Q: Will it be crowded?

A: Our farm and orchard is spread over 120 acres. We have always been able to manage lines well and once out in the farm there is never really a crowd. With our new online ticketing pre-orders and the Drive Thru Farm Store online shop lines outside of your car will be at a minimum. Our activities will have Friendly Team Members posted to monitor the number of guests at each activity. The Hayride requires a reservation to assure it is not overcrowded, only 4 families ride at a time on our double wagon. For a more detailed plan concerning the protocols of each activity, see the next question.

Q: Do you still have all of the activities?

Q: When is the best time to come?

A: Whenever works best for you! Our ticket time slots are 9am, 11am, 1pm, and 3pm, so there are a variety of times to choose from. Keep in mind that our best apples differ depending on when we are in the season, so plan your visit for when your favorite apples are at their peak.

Q: Can I have a birthday party?

A: Yes, but we no longer offer a birthday package or tent rental. Visit our Group Events page for details.

Q: Can I bring a group or bus on the weekend?

A: Yes, but there are no group discounts and you should contact us if you are bringing a bus so we can make sure we have parking available and help you organize your trip. Visit our Group Events page to see our Changes to Group Reservations in 2020.

We want all of our guests to have a safe and fun time at Hurds Family Farm. In general, try to stay at least 6-12 feet away from others and stay home if you're feeling sick. We all have to work together to protect each other and stay safe!
