A Local Vacation

Love the idea of a getaway, but don't have the time to go too far? Take the kids on a trip to Yogi Bear's Jelly Stone Camp Resort in Gardiner, NY. There is plenty to do including a water park to cool you off on hot summer days! You can visit the park for a day, but you would get better value staying overnight.

Lots of FUN activities to keep you and the kids entertained all weekend. Included with your wristband Mini-Golf, two small bouncy pillows, playground areas, and a "Hey Hey Ride" at select times. There is a dog park for your 4 legged family members as well as basketball courts, volleyball courts, and other outdoor sport areas.

Make sure to pick up a copy of the weekends events schedule. Some are free others require an additional fee to participate like candy bar bingo or tie dye art. You can also do gem or fossil mining for an additional fee. BYO fishing gear and license to cast out on the Wallkill River or their fishing pond. Nothing is cooler for the kids then cruising around the campground in a golf cart which are available to rent. Actually having dad teach you how to ride your bike around may be even better!

For a real camping experience you can bring your tent and sleeping bags. If you want a bit of luxury choose a site with electric. These sites also come with cable TV, but maybe it's best to leave the TV home and enjoy some conversations around your personal campfire. All the tent sites are along the Wallkill River, which offers an opportunity for kayaking or canoeing. There are plenty of "comfort stations" around to freshen up in (see pics below).

If you have a RV you can choose from a variety of sites. There are a couple 100 lots to choose from. Use their park map to pick the perfect site for your camper, additional fees do apply for picking your specific lot number. Consider if you will be walking or biking to the water park, hills and distance all something to keep in mind. Also, think about if want to be social or more secluded for a private vacation.

Not into tents and don't have a camper, no problem. There are plenty of cabins and bungalows to choose from that sleep from 4 to 16 people. There are blue prints online to help you choose the layout that best fits your family. Make sure to think about where you want to be located within the park. Some cabins are under trees in woodsy areas while others offer beautiful views of the Mohonk Mountains. There is a minimum 2 or 3 night stay depending on the type of cabin you choose.

We recommend bringing your own food for most meals, but you can treat yourself to a meal at the poolside tiki bar on weekends. The hours vary, dinner on Fridays, lunch and dinner Saturdays. and pancake breakfast lunch and dinner on Sundays. The menu includes pizza, quesadillas, salads, and other snack foods. They also serve frozen alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks to wet your whistle. The general store near the water park is pretty well stocked if there is something that you forgot pack or you want to get a souvenir.

If you are coming up to pick apples and pumpkins in the Hudson Valley this is a great place to stay while you enjoy the Fall Festival at Hurds. Yogi Bear's Camp Resort is only 10 minutes from Hurds Family Farm. Spend the weekend in the country less than 2 hours from NYC.
