Visit Gardiner, NY with Kids or the Dogs or just the Adults

Breakfast or Lunch? If it is a beautiful day you can enjoy outdoor dog friendly seating at either Cafe Mio or Village Eatery.


Cafe Mio offers a unique farm to table menu, sit down service and refreshing drinks.

The Village Market has plenty of places to sit or you can grab something to go like yummy locally made products, house made cookies, kombucha or a coffee.


Baby Chicks for you to hold, pet or take home are at The Natural Pet Center March, April, May, & June! They also have 2 gigantic store cats that are real friendly. If you brought your doggy with you he can get a biscuit at the counter or you can bring home a special treat from their large selection of natural pet products.

Did you know there is a dog park in Gardiner? Yes, an Ulster County friendly dog park that not many people are aware of. It is located just behind the town hall. There are 2 areas for the different sized dogs, seating, sun and shade.

During National Library Week. All you local Gardiner, NY residents can show your library card and get great deals at some of Gardiner's shops and restaurants. Visit the library site for more details.

FREE Parking at the library which is conveniently located along the Wallkill Valley Rail Trail. A great place to walk the dog or kids. Are you looking to take a long ride on your bicycle or horse? This rail trail stretches 22 miles from Wallkill, NY to Kingston, NY. If your bike needs a tuneup stop by Lightsey Cycles. This nature trail provides you with plenty of opportunities to discover a wide variety of birds and other wildlife.

Majestic Park is a short walk from the library on the rail trail. It has a playground for kids, tether ball, disc golf course, basketball court and small skate park. FYI there are no dogs allowed here.

Looking for a real adventure? Santa and his elves who sky dive into Hurds Family Farm every year to start our Christmas Tree Season. They can teach you to sky dive. If you think the Hudson Valley is beautiful from the ground, you will love it even more from the sky.

We love Theresa at Meadow Scent Florist. She actually made all the arrangements for our latest Farm Wedding. Her store has lots of cute gifts too. Stop in and check it out, but definitely keep her in mind for your next event.

Other shops in Gardiner include: The Green Room a hair salon with natural products. Uptown Attic is a consignment shop with a great selection of women's clothes and kids clothes too. If you are looking to sell you can bring 25 items for the upcoming season, but they must be in new condition and name brand. White Barn Sheep & Wool (a bit outside town) with a beautiful yarn selection and knitting classes.

Pasquales Pizza has indoor and outdoor seating. A great place to take the kids for upstate NY pizza. Lunch or dinner this is the place for a quick inexpensive meal.

There are 4 unique gems in Gardiner that adults and foodies will love. The Gardiner Liquid Mercantile makes craft cocktails and food with local ingredients. The bartenders really know their ingredients and are happy to experiment and make you drinks off the menu. Tuthiltown has an amazing restaurant and also makes their own spirits. The Yard Owl brews hand crafted European style beer right here in NY with house made small plates to snack on. The newest addition, Gardiner Brewing Company is located in an old barn right near the Gardiner Cupcake Festival.


Gardiner is a small town in between the Newburgh and New Paltz exits on the NYS Thruway. It is about 10 minutes south of New Paltz, 25 minutes north of Newburgh and exactly 5 minutes from Hurds Family Farm in Modena, NY.
